Question 1

What this section covers

This test maps to the Handling emergencies section of the Texas driver handbook. Almost every emergency answer is the same instinct: do not brake hard, do not jerk the wheel, ease off the accelerator and steer where you want to go.

The Texas knowledge test is 30 questions, and you need 21 correct to pass.

Common questions

How many questions about emergencies & hazards are on the real test?

Texas DPS doesn't publish a per-section breakdown, and it varies between exam forms. What's consistent is that signs and right-of-way carry the most weight on every state's exam — so if you're short on time, those are the two sections to over-prepare.

Do I have to get these exactly right on the real exam?

The exam samples from the whole handbook, so no single section decides it — but you can't offset a weak section forever. You may miss 9 questions in total on the Texas exam.

Can I retake this practice test?

As many times as you like, free. Your progress saves automatically, so you can stop partway and come back to the same question later.
