New York motorcycle: Missed-question drill
Only the questions you have gotten wrong, repeated until they stick. A question retires after you answer it correctly twice.
The written test is 20 questions and you need 14 correct — but you must ALSO get at least 2 of the 4 road-sign questions right. A strong overall score does not rescue that section.
This is still worth it if:
- Because New York scores signs separately, the paid exam deliberately includes sign questions — a motorcycle test that omits them would not match the real one.
- New York is one of only two states here that publishes its full format, so this exam mirrors the real thing closely.
One payment. Lifetime access. No subscription.
- 20-question motorcycle exam in New York's published format, drawn from a pool of 102
- 8 questions specific to New York — helmet law, eye protection, permit rules
- Road signs included, because real motorcycle tests include them
- Missed-question drill that targets only your weak spots
- Also unlocks the car permit material, all 10 states, and the full CDL battery

On a typical motorcycle, the front brake is operated by:
✓ The right hand lever
The right hand lever works the front brake and the right foot pedal works the rear. The left hand lever is the clutch and the left foot lever shifts gears. Reaching for the wrong one in an emergency is why this gets drilled first.
Which brake provides most of a motorcycle's stopping power?
✓ The front brake
Weight shifts forward under braking, pressing the front tyre into the road, so the front brake supplies roughly 70% of your stopping power. Riders who avoid it out of fear of going over the bars give up most of their braking.
To stop as quickly as possible, you should:
✓ Use both brakes at the same time
Both brakes together always stop you shorter than either one alone, and that stays true on wet or loose surfaces. The technique is to apply both smoothly and progressively rather than grabbing either one.
